Pues bien, el primer caso es el micelio de un hongo en Oreg\u00f3n (EE. UU.), que abarca&nbsp;ochocientas noventa hect\u00e1reas; y el segundo, es una ciudad de termiteros con una superficie de&nbsp;doscientos treinta mil kil\u00f3metros cuadrados&nbsp;en Brasil. Es una muestra m\u00e1s de los grandes secretos que alberga el subsuelo y su fauna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entender mejor lo que sucede ah\u00ed abajo es crucial para el desarrollo de la agricultura o la construcci\u00f3n. Ahora un nuevo avance tecnol\u00f3gico&nbsp;&nbsp;promete facilitar las cosas en esa investigaci\u00f3n. Se trata de un robot tunelador inspirado en un cangrejo del Pac\u00edfico. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uninter.edu.mx\/ESCAT\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/image-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55101\" width=\"608\" height=\"456\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">EMBUR: el cangrejo rob\u00f3tico que estudiar\u00e1 el subsuelo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"> El cangrejo topo o de arena \u2013conocido cient\u00edficamente como&nbsp;<em>Emerita analoga<\/em>\u2013 es un crust\u00e1ceo que ha optado por una estrategia de supervivencia que lo pone a salvo de las aves depredadoras. Su h\u00e1bitat es la arena cercana a la orilla donde, al retirarse las olas,&nbsp;se entierra con rapidez tunelando con sus extremidades. Desde all\u00ed utiliza sus antenas para respirar y alimentarse de fitoplancton.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uninter.edu.mx\/ESCAT\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55102\" width=\"764\" height=\"764\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>La principal caracter\u00edstica del nuevo dispositivo rob\u00f3tico es que es capaz de escarbar en el suelo y adentrarse en \u00e9l verticalmente tal como hace el cangrejo topo. Este tipo de aparatos se enfrenta a dos retos fundamentales. Por un lado, est\u00e1 el hecho de que cuanto mayor es la profundidad m\u00e1s resistencia ofrece el terreno. Por otro lado, en medio de este proceso, los granos de arena y las part\u00edculas de polvo acaban acumul\u00e1ndose en sus articulaciones artificiales. Los cient\u00edficos de la Universidad de Berkley han apostado por dos soluciones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En primer lugar, siguiendo el patr\u00f3n del cangrejo topo, han dise\u00f1ado un robot con unas patas que ofrecen una respuesta de fuerza anisotr\u00f3pica. Es decir, que aplican mucha mas fuerza en un sentido que en otro. Basta con pensar en un nadador que aplica su fuerza al extender las extremidades. As\u00ed, los investigadores&nbsp;copiaron la forma de insertar, barrer y retraer de las patas del cangrejo&nbsp;y, posteriormente, recurrieron a la Teor\u00eda de Fuerza Resistiva (RFT, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) para modelar la fuerza aplicada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En segundo lugar, han recurrido a una cut\u00edcula que tambi\u00e9n se inspira en el cangrejo topo, en esta ocasi\u00f3n en su membrana artrodial. Se trata de&nbsp;un material blando que recubre las partes expuestas de las articulaciones&nbsp;y que impide la entrada de cuerpos extra\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uninter.edu.mx\/ESCAT\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/image-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55105\" width=\"403\" height=\"397\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan los desarrolladores de EMBUR, la rob\u00f3tica ha hecho grandes avances en el medio a\u00e9reo, acu\u00e1tico y terrestre con m\u00e1quinas como los&nbsp;drones o los robots submarinos. La exploraci\u00f3n subterr\u00e1nea, en cambio, segu\u00eda siendo una asignatura pendiente, exceptuando las m\u00e1quinas aut\u00f3nomas empleadas en la miner\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este nuevo robot o sus versiones m\u00e1s avanzadas formar\u00e1n parte de&nbsp;una generaci\u00f3n de sistemas destinados a analizar el subsuelo&nbsp;en \u00e1reas como la agricultura, la conservaci\u00f3n del medio
