Com\u00fanmente lo encontramos en orquestas sinf\u00f3nicas y bandas de metales. Gracias a su sonido distintivo, muchos compositores a trav\u00e9s de la historia lo han usado para denotar varios efectos.<\/p>\n<p>El corno natural es el predecesor del corno franc\u00e9s moderno y no tiene v\u00e1lvulas. Se usaba com\u00fanmente en la cacer\u00eda para ayudar a los cazadores y apuntarlos en la direcci\u00f3n del animal a cazar. El sonido que estos cornos antiguos produc\u00edan se llamaba recheat. A mediados del siglo XVIII, Anton Joseph Hample desarroll\u00f3 la t\u00e9cnica de parar con la mano, que era colocar la mano en la apertura de la campana para cambiar el timbre. En 1815, se introdujeron los pistones para cambiar el timbre y despu\u00e9s se refinaron a v\u00e1lvulas en lugar de pistones.
