En su servicio como cazatalentos,&nbsp;Hammond&nbsp;es una de las figuras m\u00e1s importantes en la m\u00fasica popular del&nbsp;siglo XX.2&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fue responsable del desarrollo y \u00e9xito de la carrera musical de muchos artistas, incluyendo&nbsp;Benny Goodman,&nbsp;Billie Holiday,&nbsp;Count&nbsp;Basie,&nbsp;Teddy Wilson,&nbsp;Big Joe Turner,&nbsp;Pete&nbsp;Seeger,&nbsp;Babatunde&nbsp;Olatunji,&nbsp;Aretha&nbsp;Franklin,&nbsp;Bob Dylan, el&nbsp;guitarrista&nbsp;Freddie Green&nbsp;(conocido por su trabajo en la orquesta de&nbsp;Count&nbsp;Basie),&nbsp;Leonard Cohen,&nbsp;Bruce Springsteen&nbsp;y&nbsp;Stevie Ray Vaughan.3&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nacido el&nbsp;15 de diciembre&nbsp;de&nbsp;1910&nbsp;en&nbsp;Nueva York,&nbsp;Hammond&nbsp;comenz\u00f3 a mostrar inter\u00e9s por la m\u00fasica a la edad de ocho a\u00f1os. Se mudar\u00eda a&nbsp;Greenwich&nbsp;Village, donde sostuvo una vida bohemia y trabaj\u00f3 para el mundo musical. Desarrollar\u00eda uno de los primeros programas de&nbsp;jazz&nbsp;en directo, y escribir\u00eda regularmente acerca de la&nbsp;segregaci\u00f3n racial.
