Cantante de jazz, grab\u00f3 varios discos desde los noventa, d\u00e9cada en la que fue muy notoria su irrupci\u00f3n en el mundo del jazz. Creo un sello propio llamado Mahogany Jazz. La suya fue una de las voces de bar\u00edtono m\u00e1s personales, seguidor del gran Johnny Hartman, dominaba no solo los recursos del jazz, sino tambi\u00f1en del blues y el g\u00f3spel, incluido el R&amp;B con su banda The Apolos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nacido en el seno de una familia musical, comienza de muy joven a tocar el piano. Estudia el clarinete y en 1970 el saxo bar\u00edtono. Ese mismo a\u00f1o debuta en la New Breed Orchestra de Eddie Baker. En la High School, toca en diferentes orquestas y bandas. Se interesa por la voz. Ya en la Baker University, forma un coro vocal a su nombre. Cuando se grad\u00faa vuelve a su ciudad natal y forma dos grupos: uno con su nombre en el que interpreta R&amp;B y jazz, y The Apolos, con ra\u00edces en los sesenta. Obtiene cierta notoriedad y en 1991 le invitan la gira de la banda NRE Trio. Conoce a Frank Mantooth y colabora en la grabaci\u00f3n de su disco. En 1993 debuta con el \u00e1lbum a su nombre \u201cDouble Rainbow\u201d donde recoge varios temas con influencias bebop y blues.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filarmonicadecuernavaca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/34836-ct-kevin-mahogany-review-ent-0702-20160701.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Le siguen los \u00e1lbumes \u201cSongs and Moments\u201d (1994), y \u201cYou Got What It Takes\u201d (1995), todos ellos para Enja. Firma con Warner Bros y saca cuatro discos m\u00e1s: \u201cKevin Mahogany\u201d (1996), \u201cAnother Time Another Place\u201d (1997), \u201cMy Romance\u201d (1998) y \u201cPortrait of Kevin Mahogany\u201d (2000). Ese a\u00f1o sale con Enja \u201cPussy Cat Dues\u201d, con m\u00fasica de Charles Mingus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 2002 saca \u201cPride and Joy\u201d para Telarc, un tributo a los grandes de la Motown. Al a\u00f1o siguiente crea su propio sello y publica los discos \u201cBig Band\u201d y \u201cTo Johnny Hartman\u201d, los dos en 2004.
