No por su \u00e9poca o vestuario,<br>que es relativo a la escenificaci\u00f3n en turno, sino por sus actitudes. Aunque salen con<br>toda su fuerza vital del prodigioso poema dram\u00e1tico de Pushkin, es en la \u00f3pera donde<br>adquieren una personalidad moderna, gracias a un efectivo libreto y a la vitalidad de<br>la joven e ilusionada Tatiana y el superficial bon vivant \u2013pero, caballero respetuoso,<br>ante todo- Eugen Onegin a quienes, con el tiempo, vemos transformados,<br>respectivamente, en una distinguida dama cuya madurez supera lo que queda del<br>enamoramiento juvenil y en un donju\u00e1n venido a menos, como todos ellos, siempre<br>autoenga\u00f1ado por sus perdidos encantos conquistadores.<br>Pero adem\u00e1s, son los valores musicales de la \u00f3pera y, ah\u00ed entra el insuperable m\u00e9rito<br>del gran compositor ruso, los que dan una gran fuerza y efectividad al argumento y a<br>los inteligentes di\u00e1logos y nos llevan de la mano a algunos de los momentos cumbres<br>de toda la \u00f3pera rusa y del g\u00e9nero oper\u00edstico en general: la hermosa Escena de la<br>Carta de Tatiana, la conmovedora despedida de la vida de Lensky, el amigo de<br>Onegin, quien pierde la vida por la ciega soberbia de \u00e9ste; o la sabia lecci\u00f3n de vida<br>del anciano Pr\u00edncipe Gremin; o, por supuesto, el dram\u00e1tico dueto de ambos<br>enamorados, que quienes escuchamos la obra por primera vez no pensar\u00edamos jam\u00e1s<br>que estamos en la definitoria, abrupta escena final de la \u00f3pera; otra muestra del<br>evolucionado modernismo del compositor.<br>Y sin embargo, los dos pasajes m\u00e1s famosos de Eugene Onegin de TCHAIKOVSKY no<br>est\u00e1n entre los mencionados y m\u00e1s de un cr\u00edtico habr\u00e1 afirmado que no est\u00e1n,<br>precisamente, entre los pasajes importantes. Nos referimos al Vals y a la Polonesa<br>que animan las dos fiestas de la obra, el Vals en el Segundo Acto, en la fiesta en casa<br>de Larina en que todos los protagonistas bailan y se decide el destino; y la Polonesa,<br>en el Tercer Acto, en una aristocr\u00e1tica fiesta en la mansi\u00f3n del Pr\u00edncipe Gremin.<br>Con ese talento genial que tuvo el gran compositor ruso para crear m\u00fasica atractiva y<br>su arte del desarrollo y la orquestaci\u00f3n, ambas piezas nos cautivan, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de su<br>car\u00e1cter ligero y de g\u00e9neros de danzas populares.
