U N I N T E R L I N G U A 74 Developing speaking skills in ELT Jaime Torres eaching English is a difficult job, but one of the most difficult parts of the job is making the students speak English. Nationwide the number of students which graduate from all education levels, speaking Engli- sh, is really small, so what are we, the English tea- chers, doing wrong? Here will be presented a few theoretical and experiential factors to consider when teaching the language in our classes; and especially when we really want to make the students English speaking people.
