Presente en el campo, en las fiestas tradicionales y en movimientos sociales, su imagen est\u00e1 profundamente ligada a la identidad del pueblo. Sin embargo, su historia comienza lejos de nuestro territorio, en rutas comerciales que unieron continentes y culturas. A lo largo del tiempo, este pa\u00f1uelo cuadrado pas\u00f3 de ser un objeto funcional a convertirse en un s\u00edmbolo cargado de significado hist\u00f3rico y social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Origen lejano, identidad cercana<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aunque hoy lo consideramos mexicano, el paliacate no naci\u00f3 en M\u00e9xico. Su origen se encuentra en la India, Persia y otras regiones de Asia y Medio Oriente. All\u00ed surgi\u00f3 el dise\u00f1o <em>paisley<\/em> o \u201ccachemira\u201d, un patr\u00f3n con forma de gota o \u00e1rbol sagrado que simbolizaba vida y espiritualidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uninter.edu.mx\/difusioncultural\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/528043346_3123443887810836_5206759828393535434_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11015\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.499330655957162;width:435px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estos textiles viajaron por Asia, llegaron a Europa y cruzaron el oc\u00e9ano gracias al <strong>Gale\u00f3n de Manila<\/strong>, ruta comercial que durante el virreinato conect\u00f3 Asia con la Nueva Espa\u00f1a. As\u00ed, el pa\u00f1uelo cuadrado de algod\u00f3n lleg\u00f3 a territorio mexicano y comenz\u00f3 a integrarse a la vida cotidiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De objeto pr\u00e1ctico a s\u00edmbolo popular<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En M\u00e9xico, el paliacate adquiri\u00f3 un nuevo significado. Primero fue una prenda funcional. Campesinos y trabajadores rurales lo usaban para protegerse del sol, el polvo y el viento. Era ligero, resistente y accesible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con el tiempo, dej\u00f3 de ser solo un accesorio pr\u00e1ctico. Durante la Revoluci\u00f3n Mexicana, figuras como Emiliano Zapata y Francisco Villa lo incorporaron a su vestimenta. Desde entonces, el paliacate represent\u00f3 lucha y resistencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No simbolizaba riqueza. Simbolizaba dignidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Memoria y resistencia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El valor simb\u00f3lico del paliacate continu\u00f3 en el siglo XX. En la d\u00e9cada de 1990, el Ej\u00e9rcito Zapatista de Liberaci\u00f3n Nacional lo adopt\u00f3 como parte de su indumentaria. Con ello reforz\u00f3 su mensaje de autonom\u00eda y justicia social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero su significado no solo est\u00e1 en los grandes movimientos hist\u00f3ricos. Tambi\u00e9n vive en la memoria de las comunidades. Muchas familias lo tej\u00edan o lo adaptaban con los colores disponibles. Lo importante no era la apariencia. Era el sentido de pertenencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tradici\u00f3n en transformaci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoy, el paliacate sigue presente. Aparece en la moda, el arte y las manifestaciones culturales. Puede ser un accesorio est\u00e9tico, pero su carga hist\u00f3rica permanece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es m\u00e1s que un trozo de tela. Es un puente entre Oriente y M\u00e9xico.
