At the time, health and mobility restrictions during the pandemic forced many teachers out of the profession. Now unrestricted, student numbers have recovered at a rapid pace, reaching a 172% increase in the first quarter of 2022 over the same period in 2021. However, the shortage of teachers has remained, creating great job opportunities in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>David Charnaud of Cambridge University Press &amp; Assessment reminds us of the importance of having the CELTA qualification. This is the qualification for teaching English as a foreign language; the minimum requirement for those who want to become teachers in academies, colleges, boarding schools or other accredited institutions. It is the most internationally recognized certification for teachers of English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UK schools looking for teachers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to English UK, the Association of Language Centers in the UK, 91% of jobs in teaching English as a foreign language have been affected by the pandemic. Centers lost approximately 54% of their staff by the end of 2020.
