When our Flag was born, in the declaration of the Iguala plan, Iturbide carried the trigarante flag (green, white and red), but in diagonal stripes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The colors of the flag guaranteed some rights: white represented the Catholic religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Green represented the independence of Mexico and red represented equality and the union of Mexicans with the Spanish and the castes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Constituent Congress retained the green, white and red colors of the flag but the eagle was removed from the imperial crown and the republican symbols of laurel and oak branches were added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
