Being an exchange student can be both exciting and overwhelming, but Zélie, our wonderful exchange student from Belgium, has embraced her experience here at UNINTER in Cuernavaca with open arms. She was kind enough to share her thoughts with us about living in Mexico and being part of the UNINTER community.
Here’s a little of what Zélie had to say about her journey:
«First, take a deep breath and relax. From the moment you arrive at UNINTER and in Mexico, you’ll notice how laid-back and welcoming people are. Everyone is super friendly and ready to help, so making new friends is easy and natural.»
«Second, I highly recommend exploring Cuernavaca and its surroundings. Although it’s a small city, Cuernavaca is beautiful, and there’s always something going on. Whether it’s visiting museums like the Robert Brady Museum, catching a movie at the cinema, or simply wandering through the city center, you’ll never be bored. Don’t miss out on visiting nearby towns like Taxco and Tepoztlán — they’re close by and perfect for a day trip.»
«Lastly, I can’t talk about my experience in Mexico without mentioning the food. The tacos here are on another level. We tried a restaurant called Las Hamacas, and it was fantastic. While I personally prefer the tacos from the market near my house, Las Hamacas comes in at a close second!»
Enjoy every moment — the culture, the food, and the friends you’ll make!
Zélie’s message is simple: enjoy every moment. Whether it’s the food, the people, or the places you’ll discover, life as an exchange student at UNINTER and in Mexico is filled with adventure, warmth, and unforgettable experiences.
We’re grateful to Zélie for sharing her story and hope her experience inspires other students to dive into life at UNINTER with the same enthusiasm and openness!
If you’re an exchange student or considering joining us at UNINTER, remember Zélie’s words: take a deep breath, enjoy the culture, savor the food, and cherish the friendships you’ll make along the way!
